Wish - Types of Wishes
What can a child wish for?
At the Make-A-Wish Foundation our philosophy is that a wish is only limited by a child's imagination!
"I want to meet the person who inspires me"
Many children want to meet their favorite athlete, recording artist, television personality, movie star, politician or public figure.
"I want to go to the most magical place ever"
Children wish to travel to their favorite theme park, while others want to visit a beach paradise, go on a cruise, see snow for the first time, or attend a major sporting event or concert.
"I want to have what I have always dreamed of having"
Children often wish for a special gift, like a computer, a tree house, a shopping spree or something that they have coveted for a long time.
"I want to be the person I have always dreamed of being"
Children search the depths of their imagination when they wish to be someone for a day – a fireman, a police officer, a model, or a rock star.
What is a Wish?
If you could wish for anything, what would it be?
Wish granting starts with that one question -- a wonderful and magical question that indulges the imagination and empowers the spirit.
The answer can be as simple as a battery-operated toy jeep or as imaginative as flying like a fairy princess or becoming a superhero. For some unique insights be sure to read some of our Wish Stories.
Our goal is to be a unique part of the treatment process. While doctors provide the medicine, the Make-A-Wish Foundation supplies the magical experience that helps our courageous wish children thrive.
What makes the wish experience even more extraordinary is that it enriches the lives of all involved, from the children and their families, to the volunteers and sponsors, and often entire communities.
